What is it that the Washington Capitals are doing that is stymieing the scoring ability of teams like TBL and VGK, who are known for their passing game, but totally unable to against the Caps?
Honestly, I’m not sure. The Caps are very aggressive in their fore-checking, so they’re taking away a lot of time and space from the Knights, but the Kings tried a similar style and got their asses beat, so I don’t know. Team speed, maybe. They always seem to be at the puck before the Vegas player gets to it, or immediately after so there’s never any time to make a real play or get a good breakout going. I think the fact Marchessault is clearly playing hurt is pretty severely impacting Vegas at this point as well. He’s been a force for them, and when he’s not creating offense, they lose.
