With Calgary not getting a draft pick in the first four (I think) rounds, how desparate do they get to make a trade and how much does that put them over the barrel knowing there's not much leverage?

First three rounds, but yeah, I think they’re pretty eager to add some picks if they can. I’m not sure what they’d give up to get back any kind of significant pick though. I keep hearing Hamilton’s name out there, and that is insane to me. I wouldn’t put him up in the elite defense group, but he’s damn good, and still young and improving. Reminds me of Pietrangelo a bit. They’re in a weird situation though. They’ve got a solid core of young forwards who will be stars for them for the next ten years, but they’ve also got an old goalie and a defensive group that is definitely built to win now. I think they have to make a choice about what exactly they’re doing and go accordingly. If the final choice is win now, then trading for picks is less important.

Again, not a whole lot of competition at this slot. There have been a couple players drafted here who’ve had excellent careers, and a few who look to be on the right path, but none of them really compare with what Iginla was able to do. 625 goals is an incredible feat, and there was a stretch of 11 straight years where he scored at least 30 each season. And he lost an entire year in his prime to the 04-05 lockout. He’ll be in the Hall of Fame before too long.
