Really wanted to hear what Luke Witkowski was saying to Ritchie. I’m pretty sure Ritchie threw an extra punch when the fight was over and Witter was telling him he should knock his teeth out for it.
Yeah, I’ve only been a player/fan who’s studied the game on a daily basis for 25+ years and has run this blog consistently for 5 years.
But yeah, everybody, all 12,000 of you, unfollow me and go to “burritosfolife666” for your Red Wings information from now on.
I know the Wings aren’t trying to tank but they’re sure doing a good job of it.
6 straight losses
7 straight losses
8 straight losses
Trading away Tatar, one of the few guys who can find the back of the net and a guy that the team loved, was management officially waving the white flag on this season.
Really great that we gave up a chance on the wild card for the 29th or 30th pick that might not even make it to the NHL and if they do, not for several years.
Tanking will get us a lottery pick, but it’s also a great way to alienate a fanbase.
What would have been the point of making it into the playoffs? It’s not as if we suddenly would have been able to win. Sure, some fans would be ignorantly happy, but I’m hoping most would be aware that nothing would come of it.
They already made a move with the Mrazek trade and were something along the lines of 4-1 in their last 5 before the Tatar trade.
The problem with past years is that Kenny wasted youth on ageing veterans at the deadline. The Mrazek trade avoided that.
They could’ve dealt someone other than Tats and at least still had a chance. If you don’t think a chance is enough, look at the 2012 Kings.
We’ve been embarrassed our last several playoffs, and I just don’t see how this year could have been different.
Not making it out of the first round or second round isn’t acceptable, but I don’t think we’ve been embarrassed.
2010 – Lost in 2nd rd.
2011 – Lost in 2nd rd. in 7 games.
2013 – Lost in 2nd rd. in 7 games. to eventual SC Champions.
2015 – Lost in 1st rd. in 7 games. to EC Champions.
2012, 2014, and 2016 were bad, no doubt about that.
I’m just saying they were showing signs of life before the trade deadline and I’d rather watch them try to make a run than tank completely. The NHL is full of parity now.
