Trotz out as coach of Capitals: undefined
What do you think will happen to the Capitals team in the post season? It's been pretty much confirmed that Grubby will be traded, but I've also heard rumor of Brett Connolly being traded which I really hope doesn't happen..
I don’t think the team will look all that different next season. Carlson will be gone, and that’s a huge hole, but they’re not really in any kind of cap crunch, especially with the cap going up, so there’s no need to off-load talent or anything. No big-money RFAs to re-sign this season. You’re right about Grubauer being traded, but he’ll also bring you back something decent if an extension can be worked out with the team that’s getting him. I won’t say Connolly won’t be traded, but there’s no immediately apparent reason for them to do that. He’s a serviceable player on a cheap contract which only has one more year on it anyway. They have the cap space to re-sign all their players if they want to, and to sign or trade for another d-man to play in their top-4 as a Carlson replacement. Crazy shit can always happen, but I wouldn’t be overly worried right now.
And Ovi passes the Cup to Backstrom first. Very fitting. Eleven years in the making. Great moment.
Congratulations to the Washington Capitals on the franchise’s first Stanley Cup win!
Since Tats can’t crack the lineup, I’m kinda pulling for Ovi, he deserves a cup. Not ready for hockey to be over though so Go Knights Go.
C’mon Caps. Don’t do this to us. Please put an end to this reign of terror.
